Bishop to preside at Holy Spirit Mass

By Anna Weaver | Hawaii Catholic Herald

Oahu Catholic school educators will mark the start of their academic year at the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit on Aug. 18. Bishop Larry Silva will preside at the 8:30 a.m. liturgy at St. Ann Church in Kaneohe.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit is a time for teachers to pause before the upcoming school year and receive enrichment, which this year comes through a talk by Cincinnati Sister of Charity Caroljean Willie.

Sister Caroljean’s topic is “Catholic Social Teaching: The Church’s Best Kept Secret.” She has written several books, including “Praying All Ways: A Multiple Intelligences Approach to Prayer.” She is also the Elizabeth Seton/Sisters of Charity Federation’s NGO representative to the United Nations.

Sister Caroljean has been a teacher, principal, teacher trainer and retreat director in the United States, Guatemala, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
